The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other Top Rated Robot Vacuum-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or via voice.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to sweep a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second time usually works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known best robot vacuum cleaner vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation abilities and can better navigate its own. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, because it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
